Since when ST is (once again) free?

It wasn't long again when the ST interactive became a free membership service; it was also not long again when ST online became a charged service. Today I clicked on my old links by mistake and it took me to the actual full content of the news of ST news. That's how I realised that ST is free once again. But I wasn't too happy with it. I remember I read something when in my NUS days, "Don't fix it when it's not broken."

Taking passport-size photos

I finally sat down and made the calculation such that developing this 1200x1600 digital image on a 3-R photo can be cut into 4 passport-size photographs. It can potentially save a lot!.

Google Maps

I last went to google maps, saw that it has the satellite images on most part of united states and I was so impressed. Now it even extends to the world! My flat can be see so clear, and clearer quality than the US ones. Even the convention centre looks so funcy, the tallest building in HK, IFC looks so ordinary,

My first impression is : Google is crazy, they have have so much money to do it. I'm now so proud of myself that I have a friend who's joining Google soon.

This is so funny...

News from the department web page: "The lab was funded by a grant from Microsoft Corporation. The machines were named from the Chinese classic novel San Guo Yan Yi, or Legend of the Three Kingdoms. The desktop wallpapers of these machines give biographical information of the people after whom they were named. We believe that this has brought some culture and personality to these computers."

Americans really have nothing better to do.

Bank A/C shrunk by 2 digits

While still waiting for my last 2 months of salary, my bank account gradualy shrunk by _TWO_ digits. I shouldn't take it as seriously as before, maybe it'll be further shrank to by another digit?

{ABC} \not \subset {Americans}

I finally got my visa today. After 2 hours of waiting and just a 5 minutes of inteview. The process is unexpectedly smooth. One important factor is the ABC interviewer, who just asked only the standard questions. Only conclusion is... {ABC} must not be a subset of Americans.

It has to do with your nationality. Frankly, I don't remember the officer asking anything else except 1 qn abt the I-20. --jm

Well... things are not as simple as they seem. The embassy accepts both booking and walk-ins. I booked and went for the 10:30am slot. When I reach, they put me together with the walkin persons. Then when I submitted my application, the clerk saw my passport, and asked me if I have HK ID card. I showed it to her, and she striked off the passport number in my application form and changed to the HK ID number. And I thot to myself, "that's the end... they'd see me the same with hundreds of people in queue..."
