Argh... I discovered the problem last week. But I always forgot to report the problem. Now I got to rush down to the lobby in graduate house to write a complain letter...

In my room since last week, I could not connect to campus network at night but it's okay in the morning. Last week, I started to investigate, and i discover...

  1. Whenever I experienced the problem, my laptop was assigned with a different IP address 192.168.xxx.xxx (normally, the campus assigns the 147.8.xxx.xxx addresses).
  2. When I tried to trace the computer that gives out the IP to my laptop, I found that it is a Windows PC, connected with a shared printer.
  3. this machine has shared folders, like "My Music" and "My Pictures"...
  4. And since it has a shared printer, I printed something, spooled side is 33 mb. 8)
What does it mean? It means that someone is doing someone funny, a fake DHCP server! What should I do when my notebook can't get the network? Complain.....
