Life is...

I remembered ten years ago, someone said, (translated) ``Life is not about what you achieved, it's about what you've done''. I didn't what it meant at that time.

Recently, a few things make me reminded for him. Ten years ago, he said that, but yet, ten years later, today, then only I understand what it really means. He is superb.

2.4km in a simulated environment

Since the club house gym is free of charge, I might as well us it more frequently to make myself worth for the management charge. Yesterday, first time when I was running on the joggin machine 2.4km under 13 minutes. To get under 13mins, you need a speed of 12km/h. It seemed to be very first on the machine, and I was abit frightened by the speed of the belt. If you miss a step, you fall on to the floor. Yeah!

A debreif: What had gone wrong?

Just when I thought I'm on the way to graduation without much effort, situation seems to be tough again. Sunday is the dateline for submission, Sat, the RA annouced the paper is not appropriate for submission (due to some unclear proof, she felt) . This implies my Cheju tour to Korea is off. As I did a debrief to myself, I felt that nothing is actually wrong with me. Two supts, each doesn't care (full time) about me, thinking that the other will do the job. Eventually, put me and RA in a difficult position.

My supt throws me tons of problems to think, my intuition say it's not possible. Damn demoralised.

Finally, it's come to the end of case. Whether you like it or not, you still need to close the case.

Fate of an abandoned child...

At the title says, the fate for an abandoned child is, of cos, being abandoned. No one takes cares of him and no one cares about what he does....

Bye bye Jeju Island, Korea...

Tomorrow is the deadline. Just when everything is going to be fine, the RA sent us the email,

HonL has come up with a fix on the proof.
I think that the proof probably is correct.
However, I believe the argument may be more
involved and I think it still takes me some
time to fully verify it. Therefore, I think
it may not be appropriate to submit the paper
at this stage.

Regards,
"I have nothing to say", no one cares about my work right from the start anyway. But I'll miss my end of course trip.

Looking for a job?

Got that from friendster, am I?

Anybody looking for a job? :D

Message:

I'm in a startup and we're looking for good
people to become part of a core team. We're in
the area of electronic payment, billing and
should be going into financial and other related
areas.

Will be using .Net, but Java developers should be
able to pick it up fast. Am looking for people
with drive, enthusiam and willing to put in some
extra hours to help shape the future of the
company! :D Workplace is in Chai Chee (next to
Bedok interchange).

The investors are from ST's W3 Infocomm Group and
they have roped in good people to manage the
company (when I say good, I mean *good*) and are
getting more people too. The Board is very
well "stocked" with respected and well connected
names in this area.

I/we need to source for people to build up a
solid core team (while the company will also grow
in parallel by acquisition). We're not going to
slog to build a product and do cold calls by
knocking on doors to sell it! All in all, it's
going to be fun! :)

If you are interested, or you know of anybody who
is interested, just drop me a mail (with resume
if possible and expect renumeration, oh yeah,
startup though... ;P) at liewshia@yahoo.com.sg

First encounter with Jim

I'm kinda free tonight, so I went to gym at my club house. It's a big and well equiped gym. It has total 15 running machine, not counting the 7 stepping machines. I was surprised to see that the 15 running machines are occupied with people. Not a bad place, except there'll be people waiting behind you, when you are using the arm machine. When he take over, he doubles the weight that you choose.

I stopped, the world still rotates itself.

I sort of sat back a bit in the last few weeks. Until the RA told, there'll be another conference submission pm 15th Feb. A bit rush right? I don't know what the supts going to so. But if they want to go for that, they have to indicate to me (so that I work harder) first, right? The conf is helf in quite a nice place, chejiu in Korea. I don't mind going there, with *some* fanancial assistance.

Ya, 15th Feb, a day that I'll never forget. Good that it comes in time, can ease me off doing some other things. (what was I doing last year at this time?? )

I'm still required to teach... those 4 failed fella, got to retake the course, the lecturer assigned me to in charge of 3 topics, I cover the entire duty, including lecture, tutorial, assignment + marking. The best thing is.... no extra pay. Ha!!!

P.S. PacNet is really fast, faster then replying my queries... etc... my email and ftp ARE GONE, on the dot!!!.
